Sadly there will be no Queen for 2020.
Donna Jo (DJ) was raised in Naperville, Illinois, attended DuPage College and Western Illinois University. In 1988 DJ married Thomas Ruscik and moved to an area just outside of Orlando, where they enjoyed fishing, boating and travel. Their travels took them often to Bokeelia, Fl where DJ’s parents had a winter condo. Weekend visits became long weekends, which became week long vacations followed by longer vacations. Thomas and DJ moved permanently to Bokeelia in 1999 as they felt the Greater Pine Island community offered a very interactive and inviting life style. Soon both Thomas and DJ were involved in local organizations. In 2000 DJ joined the Matlacha Hookers where she has served as a board member and President. She volunteers at the Pine Island Food Bank due to a belief that each of us has a responsibility to give back to the community that we live in. She has also served on the boards of the Greater Pine Island Chamber of Commerce, The American Legion Auxiliary and on the Community Advisory Board of Florida’s Blood Centers (OneBlood). DJ and her husband Thomas are members of the Moose, the American Legion and the VFW. DJ still plays an active and integral role in all of these organizations. She is presently employed with FineMark Bank & Trust as an investment officer.
